Analytics for geometric average trigger reset options

چکیده
The geometric average trigger reset option resets the strike price based on the geometric average of the underlying asset’s prices over a monitoring window. Similar contracts have been traded on exchanges in Asia. This paper derives an analytic formula for pricing this option with multiple monitoring windows. The analytic formula in fact is a corollary of a general formula that holds for a large class of path-dependent options: It prices any option whose value can be written as a linear combination of Eðe 1fX2AgÞ, where X is a multinormal random vector and b is some constant vector. Numerical experiments suggest that the pricing formula approximates the values of arithmetic average trigger reset options accurately. Thus pricing the arithmetic average trigger reset option can benefit from using this formula as the control variate in Monte Carlo simulation. Numerical results also suggest that the geometric average trigger reset option does not have significant delta jump as the standard reset option, and this useful property reduces the hedging risk dramatically.

Efficient Algorithms for Geometric-Average-Trigger Reset Options
A derivative(or derivative security) is a financial instrument whose value depends on the value of other, more basic underlying variables, such as bonds or stocks. A stock option is a right to buy or sell a stock by a certain date for a certain price. The price in the contract is known as the exercise price or strike price; the date in the contract is known as the expiration date or maturity. S...
متن کاملA binomial model for pricing US-style average options with reset features
We develop a pricing algorithm for US-style period-average reset options written on an underlying asset which evolves in a Cox-Ross-Rubinstein (CRR) framework. The averaging feature of such an option on the reset period makes the price valuation problem computationally unfeasible because the arithmetic average is not recombining on a CRR tree. To overcome this obstacle, we associate to each nod...
متن کاملOn pricing arithmetic average reset options with multiple reset dates in a lattice framework
We develop a straightforward algorithm to price arithmetic average reset options with multiple reset dates in a Cox et al. (CRR) (1979) [10] framework. The use of a lattice approach is due to its adaptability and flexibility in managing arithmetic average reset options, as already evidenced by Kim et al. (2003) [9]. Their model is based on the Hull and White (1993) [5] bucketing algorithm and u...

As Taiwan became a member of the WTO, the positive of the regulatory agencies toward the financial markets is more proactive. Through efficient management, the government is open to creating new market. This sets in motion the acceleration of internationalization. More financial derivatives which provide the necessary riskmanagement tools are expected in the future. In the environment with dive...

This thesis investigates computational methods for pricing complex path-dependent derivative securities, especially geometricand arithmetic-moving-average-lookback options. The latter security was rst issued by Polaris Securities in 1999. Our methodology can be easily modi ed to price similarly structured options issued by other securities rms. The moving-average-lookback option is a call optio...
